Gunaprasath Bupalan, the Executive Editor of Terra Value Sdn Bhd and Executive Director of Emjay Communications is no stranger to journalism and the Malaysian property market.
Starting off his career as a junior journalist for a fitness magazine some 17 years back, he moved on to greater heights with several renowned lifestyle and business publications such as FHM, Islamic Finance Asia, The Address, Expatriate H&R and many others before moving away from the alternative media to main stream – New Straits Times as the Features Editor for the ‘then’ Property Times Friday pull-outs.
It was here where he marked his brick with mortar and realized that the property market was indeed his calling. From being the Features Editor for the publication, he has now taken over the company as Executive Editor and successfully made Property Times an independent monthly property ‘news-zine’, covering new development launches, reviews and market movements called Property360. Recently, Property360 saw a make over and has been re-branded to PropertDigest.
Terra Value Sdn Bhd also provides content for Malay Mail’s property section called Real Spaces with Malay Mail every Friday and Real Reserve in The Malaysian Reserve every Wednesday. This year, will be the 5th year of running, covering news of the industry, investment analysis and the industry movers and shakers.
Aside from publications, Terra Value Sdn Bhd is also the organizer of The Annual Malaysian Property Press Awards. These awards are evaluated by a group of editors who are involved in the daily preparation of property articles, which provides us with the depth and breadth to observe and comment on projects, personalities or companies that we feel have excelled or contributed significantly to the betterment of the industry over the year.
Gunaprasath is also a regular speaker at property events, forums, discussions and seminars. He used to be the resident Property Guru on Capital FM in 2015 and is now the resident Property Guru on a property radio show called Property on TRAXX – every Friday 8.15am on TRAXX FM (90.3 FM).
Aside from property, Gunaprasath also conducts training for Sales Staff on identifying sales clues and turning a ‘maybe’ into a ‘for sure’. Marketing Training on how to convert your marketing approach to a revenue generator as well as Media Empowering Training on how to deal with the media and make the media work for you.
As the Executive Director of Emjay Communications, his other company, he builds and choreographs team building retreats to identify and solve internal and inter-department issues faced by companies. He also organizes annual themed dinners, launches, parties, conferences and forums.
