Malaysian Parliament: To improve online learning method for students of higher education institutions

    Issues related with the measure to improve online learning method for students of higher education institutions to reduce their stress due to coursework, tight lecture time and strict assessment method as there are several death cases of students due to stress.

    Batang Lupar MP Dato’ Rohani Abdul Karim raised a question to the Minister Of Higher Education. According to Deputy Minister of Higher Education Ahmad Masrizal Muhammad explained that they have already strengthened the ICT infrastructure, by improving internet coverage, offering affordable data plans and device-based donations to students in need.

    MOHE has also collaborated with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission and the Ministry of Rural Development to use the internet centre facilities under the supervision of their respective ministries.

    Ahmad Masrizal said 160 online stress management programmes and activities had been organised by public universities last year, along with two programmes organised by MOHE, with five more programmes lined-up for this year. To ensure that in this situation, the MOHE made the preparation of PDP Guidelines to all HEIs by the Malaysian qualification agency or MQA.
