To further its mission of helping underprivileged members of society during these uncertain times, AI and Big Data technology leader Fusionex has donated RM10,000 to Assunta Children Society (ACS) to provide support and help to less privileged children.

ACS is a group initiative led by the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary to promote the wellbeing of underprivileged children and help their families. The society manages a day care center which caters to 47 children whose ages range from 4 to 14 years. ACS’s objective is to empower children with better education in order to change their lives for the better.

During a ceremony held at Fusionex’s Petaling Jaya office, Group CEO Dato’ Seri Ivan Teh presented a mock cheque to ACS Director Sr. Maria Chan. This donation will allow the children to keep up with their studies and be in touch with their teachers during the Recovery Movement Control Order.

“We are so happy and grateful to Fusionex for their timely contribution during this difficult period of time as it will allow us to upgrade our existing facilities and computers, which are too old to support various online learning resources. Donors are extremely scarce right now, especially during these trying times and we are indeed blessed to have received this support from Fusionex. Every donation counts and Fusionex’s contribution will be used to build a brighter future for the children through education,” said Sr. Maria Chan.

Also present at the event were national mixed doubles and Olympic silver medalist Goh Liu Ying and former world No. 1 badminton doubles player and Commonwealth gold medalist Chan Chong Ming. Goh Liu Ying presented Sr. Maria Chan with badminton racquets and shuttlecocks, witnessed by Chan Chong Ming. The sporting equipment are meant to not only encourage the children to stay fit and active by taking part in healthy activities like sports, but also to inspire the children to achieve excellence in the same vein as our badminton heroes.

“The Covid-19 pandemic has affected the economic and social welfare of all segments of our community across the nation. Fusionex couldn’t be happier in playing our part, albeit a small one, in helping ACS – as children are the future of Malaysia and we believe in fully supporting them to reach their fullest potential. We hope this small contribution will help these children obtain a better education and pursue their dreams,” said Teh.

“We would like to thank Sister Maria and all the ACS representatives for the continuous efforts they have put in to help the children. We would also like to thank our badminton players, Chong Ming and Liu Ying, for their noble contribution to the children’s center and for making our country proud through their tremendous accomplishments,” said Teh.
