With over 24 years of experience covering digital marketing, customer experience, digital platforms, fintech and digital transformation, 27Digital is led by Harish Subramaniam, an established tech entrepreneur who has developed strategies and delivered projects for organisations across a wide range of industries.

27Digital will be focusing on transformation and digital ventures to complement the government’s Digital Economy Blueprint. Digital platforms are transforming the business environment today and for organisations to scale up and succeed, they must adapt and look at the digital platform business models. It needs to be consumer-centric, data-driven and innovative to uncover new revenue opportunities that can set them apart and create business impact.

“Most organisations focus on digitisation which is important to improve the efficiency of business processes, but this alone will not boost their growth and bottom line in the long run. We want to help our clients stay relevant while focusing on their strategy and assist them with their digital transformation journey. The pandemic has accelerated the use of digital technologies by all organisations and governments in the areas of communications, operations, and supply chain. As we embark on a new journey in 2021, it is a good time to evaluate what worked, what did not and then plan forward,” said Harish.

The team at 27Digital has been working on several digital transformation projects in various industries throughout 2020. A noteworthy project was the extensive policy study done on the fourth industrial revolution incorporating a number of key highlights to accelerate 4IR technology innovation and adoption and forge a connected nation through digital infrastructure development.

“Smart Cities are the main stage where 4IR technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Blockchain and Internet of Things (IoT) offer opportunities to deliver efficient public utilities, develop state of the art infrastructure, cut pollution and keep communities safe and clean. Smart Cities require extensive network planning and inter-departmental collaboration of many strategic partners; namely, commercial companies, policy makers, governments including federal, state and local, and civil society.

In 2021, we should see several Smart City projects and initiatives in Malaysia that will drive the 4IR adoption. We are involved with some of these projects, and our team is ready to work with organisations, government agencies and ministries to plan, facilitate and support this comprehensive urban development initiatives,” said Harish.

With the ambition to tackle challenges and solve issues faced by many industries, 27Digital is building its own digital ventures and platforms using 4IR technologies. “This is in line with the Governments recent release of the MyDIGITAL and Malaysia Digital Economy Blueprint. The government is looking at RM70 billion investments in digitalisation by 2025 with the goal of the digital economy, eventually contributing 22.6 per cent of the nation’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Our ventures are also addressing the development of skilled digital talent through digitalisation with the up-skilling and reskilling of the existing workforce,” said Harish.

Their primary focus will be on Agritech to help resolve tangible issues confronted by plantation owners, small business holdings, and farmers both locally and
globally. “We will be launching our very first venture in Agritech this year and we are confident that our solution-oriented platform will be able to address some of the issues associated with harvesting fresh fruit bunches and pruning in oil palm holdings due to shortage of skilled workers in many estates, government schemes and smallholdings in Malaysia and in other oil palm growing arrears.” he adds.

“Agricultural development is one of the most powerful tools to end extreme poverty, boost shared prosperity and feed projected 9.7 billion people by 2050,” says a World Bank report. The poor farmer faces a multitude of risks, including climate change, conflicts, pests & diseases, a broken supply chain and unreliable access to quality seeds and fertilisers. Yet, agriculture is crucial to economic growth for the sector is two to four times more effective is raising incomes among the poorest compared to other industries.

27Group has an established track record in developing and implementing projects related to agriculture and in the process has accumulated a wealth of data, knowledge and creative solutions. To provide technical advice, the project management team is supported by a group of highly experienced industry players who hold top level positions in multiple agricultural ventures. Apart from Agritech, 27Digital will also be looking to launch various other ventures and platforms in construction technology, fintech as well as e-learning to name a few.
