Malaysian Parliament: DAN 2.0 for better farming practices

    Pontian MP Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan asked the Minister of Agriculture and Food Industries to state the achievements of the National Agrofood Policy which ended in 2020, especially in the rural livestock and agropreneur sector. Besides, to state the development set out for this sector under the 2021-2030 National Agrofood Policy or DAN 2.0.

    Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Industries I Datuk Seri Ahmad Hamzah said the agrofood sector’s contribution to Malaysia’s GDP increased by 68% to RM 51.3 billion in 2020, up from 26.6 billion in 2010. Various agrarian empowerment programs, including the AZAM Tani Program, Rezeki Tani Program, benefited a total of 22,415 agri-entrepreneurs during the DAN implementation period which ended in 2020.

    Moreover, the DAN 2.0 involves initiatives to improve farm hygiene and procedures, as well as avoid animal diseases. It also attempts to improve the periodic chain and the competitiveness of the local market by providing various government incentives.
