The event took place at Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday, 26 July 2023.

Top Glove stood out as the only glove manufacturer invited to participate in the Sustainability & CSR Malaysia Awards 2023, which saw recognition for 55 outstanding companies from diverse industries for their commendable community outreach efforts. This year the Awards introduced a special recognition category to honour six outstanding individuals who have been champions of ESG and CSR causes. The event, organised by CSR Malaysia publication and endorsed by Pertubuhan Amal Tanggungjawab Kemapanan & Korporat Malaysia (Corporate Sustainability & Responsibility Malaysia Welfare Society), celebrates and promotes corporate social responsibility initiatives.

The prestigious award was bestowed upon Top Glove in acknowledgment of its remarkable corporate social responsibility activities throughout the year 2022. These endeavours encompassed a wide spectrum of initiatives, such as charitable donations, programmes for the elderly’s wellbeing, blood donation campaigns, educational support for students in the B40 community, festive contributions, flood relief efforts, and environmental programmes. Notably, Top Glove’s contributions in terms of monetary aid, personal protective equipment (PPE), and philanthropic projects in the past year surpassed RM3 million.

Established in June 2009, Top Glove Foundation has been instrumental in raising funds for charitable, educational, environmental, and community-related endeavours. The Foundation operates under three key philanthropic pillars: Community, Education, and the Environment while promoting sustainability and corporate social responsibility projects.

Beyond regular donations and welfare home visits, the Foundation has initiated flagship programmes like the Healthy Ageing Programme, in collaboration with Pusat Kesihatan Daerah Klang, at Klinik Kesihatan Pandamaran and Klinik Kesihatan Meru. Additionally, the EduShare programme involves donating refurbished laptops for academic purposes, while its ongoing mangrove nursery and plantation programme at Sijangkang Mangrove & Recreational Park supports environmental conservation efforts.

The Awards’ selection process involves meticulous consideration of various factors, including the alignment of a company’s practices with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a declaration of non-conflict with SDGs, the absence of corruption, the impact of sustainability and corporate social responsibility initiatives on the community, the frequency and transparency of these activities, the total contribution made, the strength of the team, and the effectiveness of each initiative.
