realme turns five, teases upcoming number series offering and new brand focus

After establishing a solid presence in the highly-competitive smartphone market, realme, a fast-growing smartphone brand, is slated to celebrate its 5th anniversary come 28 August 2023. It is set to unveil a series of exclusive 5th Anniversary Leap Up Products, which encapsulate its new brand focus ‘Leap Up’. ‘Leap Up’ carries a simple meaning: to move with focus, ensuring all leaps taken will bring realme to higher peaks.

realme entered the market in 2018, which was a heyday for the market filled with hundreds of smartphone brands. As a new entrant to the crowded space, realme found a laser focus – a simple mission to empower youth through products with leap-forward technology, design and experience – and eventually broke through and made its mark in the industry.

As a young and fearless brand, realme’s spirit of Dare to Leap and its strategy of ‘light assets, short channel modes, and e-commerce prioritisation’ have proven successful in thriving in a highly-crowded market. realme was named the world’s fastest-growing smartphone brand for four consecutive quarters and was ranked 7th in the global smartphone market.

Long-term growth has then become the manufacturer’s focus, and its two strategies, Simply Better and Market Cultivation, were made top priorities. Today, realme continues to refine its leap-forward products and follows the ‘No Leap No Launch’ principle. Such principles have impressed users around the globe and helped realme secure a place in the Top 50 Kantar BrandZ Chinese Global Brand Builders 2023 report.

Notably, a report from Canalys, the leading global technology market analyst firm, indicated that realme Malaysia has returned to the top five smartphone list as of Q2 2023. It recorded an annual growth of 18 per cent, the highest and only double-digit growth among the top five brands. realme believes that this is just a beginning and it will reach higher peaks by the end of the year.

Pushing the Boundaries with Leap-forward Technology

Over five years of its Dare to Leap journey, realme has fortified its brand reputation by offering products with leap-forward technology, including next-level photography experience, increased memory and storage capacity, better performance, faster charging, and extraordinary design.

The latest realme 11 Pro+ 5G packs the world’s first 200MP OIS main camera with 4x in-sensor Lossless Zoom. In addition, it features a large memory storage of 512GB alongside a premium Master Design concept created by realme Design Studio and Matteo Menotto that is rarely seen in the price segment. This showcases realme’s consistent efforts in offering users with surprises in the technological race.

To support its pursuit of leap-forward technology, realme invested in a dedicated Global Institute of Leap-forward Technology in Shenzhen, China and a specialised brand in India. The institution seeks innovation in six major aspects: charging, photography, display, gaming, chipset, and industrial design.

Bringing New Life Through Leap-forward Design

Design has been at the core of realme’s DNA. From its Master Edition smartphone co-created with Naoto Fukasawa, a renowned Japanese Industrial Designer, to collaborations with numerous well-known designers, artists, and iconic brands, realme has always been embracing its Dare to Leap mantra and deliver eye-catching designs that are different from the mainstream styles. This approach has earned the brand multiple international awards.

Its product design captures the often-missed beauty of ordinary life. For instance, the realme 11 Pro+ 5G, co-created with Matteo Menotto, a former print and textile designer from Gucci, captures the most exquisite and ephemeral moment of a day when the sunlight draped in a golden hue. The vegan leather combined with 3D-woven texture makes an industry breakthrough in design. Other notable designs include partnerships with Coca-Cola, Naruto, Dragon Ball and more.

In conjunction with the 5th-anniversary celebration, realme is excited to introduce a series of exclusive devices dubbed 5th Anniversary Leap Up Products.

Today, realme is writing a new chapter in its story of bringing leap-forward technologies and design to its young consumers. In the next five years, the brand will continue to embrace the spirit of Dare to Leap and carry forward its commitment to providing leap-forward products.
