Parliament of Malaysia: Encouraging technological innovations

    Jerlun MP Dato’ Seri Mukhriz Mahathir asked the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovations (MoSTI) to state new approaches used to encourage the production of the latest technological innovations to enhance the country’s competitiveness in the world market; and the level of cooperation between research universities, and between local universities and the private sector.

    According to Deputy Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation, Datuk Ahmad Amzad Hashim, several approaches have been taken to encourage technological innovations, including the Malaysia Science Technology Innovation & Economic Framework Program, the technology commercialisation accelerator (TCA), the National Innovation & Technology Sandbox initiative, the low touch High-Tech Initiative, and the My Tech Pitch Program.

    Furthermore, in order to clarify the level of cooperation between educational universities and local universities and the private sector, MoSTI would like to inform that the cooperation that has been formed thus far is very satisfactory.
