To make it easy for SMEs to understand the infinite possibilities of digital transformation (DX), HKPC has carried out two pilot transformation cases, including assisting the proprietary Chinese medicine and health product manufacturer Chaisentomg Pharmaceutical Factory Ltd. to connect with an expert in establishing online stores through the portal’s technology partner network.  In just two months, a new online store with several popular electronic payment and logistics delivery methods in Hong Kong has been successfully established, together with the setting up of a membership scheme and the launch of online marketing and promotion to develop more business opportunities.

Additionally, HKPC facilitated the cross-generational collaboration between Mr MAK Kam-sang, a minibus destination plaque calligrapher, and seven-year-old painter Hemera YIP to create a painting praising the achievements of Hong Kong athletes and put it on the NFT platform. In addition to sharing with art lovers to jointly promote local culture, the painting will be auctioned off with all its proceeds being donated to organisations that support the development of athletes.

Mr Willy LIN, Chairman of HKPC, said at the launching ceremony, “Digital DIY Portal is addressing the pain point of SMEs finding digital application technology too hard to understand and initiate. Its goal is to leverage the power of digital solution providers in the city to turn some seemingly complex application technologies of ‘digital economy’ into preferential solutions that are easy to understand and can be used by SMEs, enabling enterprises to achieve DX with a well-thought-out, practical and enterprise needs-oriented approach.”

Digital DIY Portal enables enterprises to connect with different DX solution providers, gathers affordable and ready-to-use solutions that cover different industries and match the needs of SMEs, and provides the latest information on digital and innovation and technology (I&T) activities, and DX and technology-related training courses. The business digital solutions currently available at the portal cover e-commerce, smart office management, network security solutions, e-marketing, and data analytics, amongst others. Most of them offer flexible payment methods such as monthly or pay-as-you-go charges. The portal is also designed with a solution search function that provides multiple search options, including industries, solution categories, discounts and keywords, to ensure companies can find suitable solutions more easily and quickly.

Digital DIY Portal will also invite experts from different fields to share successful cases and in-depth analysis of the pain points of SMEs regularly, to keep track on specific needs of different industries and offer suitable DX solutions. Moreover, online and offline events will be held to enhance SMEs’ awareness of DX, such as Digital DIY Live, industry seminars, one-on-one consultation sessions and related trainings. For example, the Conference on Getting Head Start by Empowering Smart Business was held today in which Mr Calvin CHAU, President of The Hong Kong General Chamber of Small and Medium Business, and Ms Pamela MAK, Permanent Honorary President of Hong Kong Small and Medium Enterprises Association, together with representatives of Hong Kong, Mainland China and overseas digital solution providers, shared on various successful cases and practical strategies of DX.
