As more Malaysians return to regular physical activities and social sports with fully eased pandemic restrictions, sporting facilities and community spaces are conversely becoming trickier to secure, especially in more populated areas. Many facilities still use manual booking systems that primarily process bookings through calls or text messages, and players unable to reserve their desired spaces likely have to look up other places online to repeat the same booking process.

Eugene Low, Chief Executive Officer of Courtsite, says, “Traditionally, when it comes to booking a place for sports, you’d have to search for the facility online, obtain their number and reach out to them, after much back and forth on availability, a manual bank transfer via Whatsapp facilitates payment. — and the process repeats in the event the place is fully booked! With Courtsite, we now have a centralised platform with live availability where anyone can access, book, and browse their preferred facilities, all within an app and a few taps on any device.”

Tapping into the strong digital penetration in the country, Courtsite’s platform serves as a one-stop digital listing of various sporting facilities across both Peninsular and East Malaysia. Among many others, this ranges from venue space, courts and fields for sports like badminton, football, and basketball to recreational indoor facilities for activities such as dance, swimming, bowling, and fitness workouts.

Besides being able to browse and book their preferred facilities, users are also able to view each facility’s location and rate details, track the availability of specific courts in live time, and enjoy promotional discount codes.

While catering to the Malaysian public and their athletic endeavours, Courtsite also has an online space dedicated to businesses in the sports community known as Courtsite for Business; a configurable facility management software that aims to streamline the operations of sport facility businesses.

Sports facility owners can sign up to be listed on Courtsite’s platform to grow their online presence within the sporting community and optimise their operational capacity in processing bookings with the platform’s flexible scheduler, pricing and booking modules.

Recognised for uplifting sports at the national level

As one of the up-and-coming progressive web apps (PWAs) championing sports facilities and players, Courtsite has collaborated with PETRONAS Akademi Badminton Malaysia by the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) to provide digital solutions to their facilities and access to easier booking systems for players. Courtsite’s work has most recently earned them official endorsement by BAM as a service provider.

Commenting on the endorsement, Dr. Suresh Kumar, COO of Petronas Akademi Badminton Malaysia shares, “Courtsite has been an invaluable supporter of the badminton community, connecting our athletes and facilities to digital transformation opportunities that make it easier for them to continue pursuing and contributing to the sport. BAM extends our constant support to Courtsite as they explore new ways to enrich the wider sports scene by using digital platforms, especially as Malaysia as a whole move to become digital-first.”

Since its establishment, Courtsite has grown to over 100,000 registered users and now facilitates over 57 facilities across eight states, with a strong presence in the Klang Valley. Among its notable listed centres is local recreational and futsal centre Sportizza, X Park and DO ARENA which has enjoyed seamless processing of bookings and greatly increased business visibility since being a part of the Courtsite platform. Within the past year, Courtsite has managed to do over 280,000 online bookings accumulating over 590,000 hours facilitating over RM15M across its platform.
