Record-breaking year for Malaysia’s real estate industry: 74 honoured at the National Real Estate Award 2025

    MIEA's flagship awards spotlight rising standards and professional excellence nationwide

    With real estate agencies contributing significantly to Malaysia’s RM232.30 billion property market in 2024, the Malaysian Institute of Estate Agents (MIEA) honoured 74 exceptional professionals in Malaysia’s real estate market at the 17th National Real Estate Awards (NREA) held at One World Hotel in Petaling Jaya, Selangor.

    This year’s event received a record-breaking 108 submissions across 25 streamlined categories, marking unprecedented participation in the awards’ history and reflected the growing dynamism of the real estate industry.

    The ceremony was graced by Deputy Minister of Finance Lim Hui Ying as a representative of Senator Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan, Minister of Finance II.

    She said, “The real estate industry remains a cornerstone of our nation’s economic development, and the achievements we celebrate tonight reflect the professionalism and dedication that drive this vital sector forward. These award recipients exemplify the high standards that position Malaysia’s property market as a key pillar of our economic resilience and growth trajectory.”

    Under the 2025 theme of ‘We Celebrate the Juara’, a key highlight of the night was the special recognition Awards – the Lifetime Achievement Award and the coveted Real Estate Agent of the Year title.

    In addition, 24 outstanding practitioners were inducted into the prestigious MIEA Million Dollar Award (MMDA), another record-breaking milestone in the award’s history, underscoring the exceptional performance and resilience of Malaysia’s professionals in the real estate market.

    Notwithstanding, other awards recipients from individuals or firms, either at the National or State levels, all truly deserved winners have significantly set a higher bar in their performance.

    “What makes this year’s celebration even more special is the unparalleled participation we’ve seen,” said Ahmad Zamzuri Kamarudin, organising chairman of NREA 2025.

    “This remarkable response speaks volumes about our industry’s competitive spirit and its collective relentless pursuit of excellence. It was a very competitive contest, the standard of performance of the participants this year has tremendously outperformed previous years,” said Ahmad.

    He added, “This year, NREA proudly unveiled the Hall of Fame’s photo wall showcasing the very first edition of individual winners from 2009 till 2025. To date, a remarkable 547 award recipients have been honoured. This milestone not only celebrates individual achievement, but also strengthens the property industry, elevates the standards of the profession nationwide and inspires others to do well in the real estate industry.”

    The judging process was conducted by a distinguished panel of nine judges, led by Chief Judge Datuk Seri Dr. Michael Yam, who dedicated two full days to meticulously review and evaluate each submission. The judges have acknowledged there was tremendous improvement in the quality, clarity and systematic preparation of entries this year, reflecting the profession’s continued evolution.

    Erick Kho Ying Tian of IQI Realty Sdn Bhd, recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award 2025, expressed his gratitude for the recognition. He said, “It brings great joy to be appreciated for my efforts, to be shown that the journey I’ve walked has been worthwhile.”

    Reflecting on his journey in the industry, Kho added, “Real estate is a lifetime marathon journey. Successful practitioners must be persistent, hard-working and have endurance. My tagline: Keep Going, Just Do It.”

    Real Estate Agent of the Year – National winner, Teh Young Khean of Knight Frank Malaysia, reflected on his achievement: “This award validates years of hard work and my commitment to always put clients first. I share this recognition with my mentors, colleagues and clients who trusted me, and especially my wife Grace and my mother whose values guide every decision I make.”

    He added, “I approach real estate with heart – I don’t just close deals, I open doors to possibilities.”

    Joyce Low of iSpace Realty Sdn Bhd, winner of Sale of the Year 2025 – Land (National) and the highest MIEA Million Dollar Achievers (MMDA), shared with pride on her dual award win.

    “Winning this award is truly an honour. It represents the trust our clients have placed in us and the dedication our team puts into every transaction, no matter the size. There is space for everyone in this industry. With patience, consistency and a willingness to keep learning, anyone can grow in this field. Especially for women, do not be afraid to carve your own path. You do not need to be the loudest in the room to make a real difference,” said Joyce.

    MIEA Million Dollar Award (MMDA) winners celebrated on stage, with a record-breaking 24 outstanding practitioners being inducted this year, marking another milestone in the awards’ history and showcasing the exceptional performance of Malaysia’s real estate professionals.

    The event was made possible through support from premier sponsors like United Overseas Bank Malaysia Berhad, PropertyGuru, Triterra Sdn Bhd, Central Spectrum Malaysia Sdn Bhd, PCM Group, and BOVEAP, along with supporting legal firms, banks, MIEA State Branches, and other contributing organizations.

    Representing over 9,134 real estate professionals across Malaysia, MIEA has grown from humble beginnings in 1974 to become the oldest and largest association representing professional practitioners of the real estate market in the country. The organisation continues to be at the forefront of preparing the real estate community for market transformations through expanded professional development programmes and strengthened advocacy efforts.

    MIEA president, Kelvin Yip Kwong Wai emphasised the significance of the awards in recognising the collective spirit of excellence within the industry.

    “Tonight, we celebrate in light of another remarkable year for Malaysia’s property market. The Juaras we celebrate tonight exemplify the standards we aspire to achieve across our entire sector,” he said.

    “As MIEA members, you are not just practitioners but ambassadors of our profession. Your commitment to high standards, ethical conduct and continuous learning directly contributes to elevating the real estate field’s standing in society,” concluded Yip.

    As Malaysia’s real estate sector continues to navigate an era of unprecedented change, from digital transformation to shifting economic dynamics, the NREA 2025 winners represent the industry’s ability to adapt and thrive while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and integrity.
