Radium Development Berhad (Radium), a property player best known for its residential and commercial developments in Malaysia’s Klang Valley, has officially broken ground on its first hospital in Ayer Keroh, Melaka, marking a pivotal move into the healthcare infrastructure space.
The closed-door groundbreaking ceremony for Radium Hospital @ Ayer Keroh, formerly known as A Famosa Specialist Hospital, was attended by Radium’s Board of Directors, senior management, and representatives from M Life Healthcare Sdn Bhd. The event marks the next phase of Radium’s venture under its newly established healthcare division, Radium Healthcare, which launched in May.

The 140-bed tertiary care hospital will form the centrepiece of Radium Centricity, a 7.11-acre wellness-focused integrated development that will later include lifestyle, hospitality, and ancillary healthcare services. Strategically positioned next to the Melaka International Trade Centre (MITC) and under 4km from the PLUS Highway, the facility is slated for completion in the first half of 2028.
“This groundbreaking represents more than the start of construction—it marks our commitment to building long-term value through essential services that improve lives,” said Datuk Gary Gan Kah Siong, group managing director of Radium Development Berhad.

“Radium Hospital @ Ayer Keroh reflects our evolution as a group, bringing our ‘Building Good’ philosophy into the healthcare sector to serve real community needs; representing our commitment to ‘Building Good, Living Well’,” continued Datuk Gary.
Radium’s move reflects a growing trend among Malaysian property developers to diversify into the healthcare sector—an area seeing increased demand in tier-two cities like Melaka. The hospital is expected to serve not just the local population but also contribute to the state’s ambitions in boosting medical tourism and regional healthcare delivery, aligning with Malaysia’s broader healthcare corridor development goals.
Dr Arun Kumar, chief executive officer of Radium Healthcare and a veteran with more than 30 years in the medical industry, will lead the hospital’s management through a partnership with M Life Healthcare.
“Radium Hospital is more than just a facility—it is the start of a healthcare network committed to patient-centred care, advanced technology, and equitable access,” said Dr Arun. “We are here to build not only hospitals, but a healthcare ecosystem that supports long-term community wellbeing.”

In addition to Centres of Excellence in traumatology, cardiology, infertility, and neonatology, the hospital will pursue MSQH accreditation, ensuring adherence to the highest national standards in safety and quality. The development adopts an asset-light model, supported through a combination of internal funding and bank borrowings, with a focus on operational and clinical excellence.
As healthcare infrastructure gains strategic importance across ASEAN, Radium’s foray into this sector could pave the way for regional investment opportunities in medical real estate. The company has stated its intention to explore similar developments in other strategic locations across Malaysia, signalling its long-term commitment to building integrated, future-proofed communities. ![]()
