Malaysia’s employment platform, Jobstreet by SEEK, announced the launch of its Top Talents Programme, named ‘Digital Expert and Leadership Accelerator’ (DELA) at its annual Malaysia Career and Training Fair (MCTF). Through a joint initiative with Jobstreet by SEEK, Otti, the Ministry of Human Resources, and TalentCorp, DELA is a fully-sponsored programme that offers a six-week accelerator and six-month industry immersion for graduates in Software Engineering, Data Science, or other tech-related fields.

Across the span of the accelerator and industry immersion, these graduates will be empowered with technical knowledge and soft skills and receive much-needed support for six working months upon securing a role within a Malaysian company.

Vic Sithasanan, managing director, Jobstreet by SEEK, Malaysia said, “We are thrilled to partner with industry experts such as Otti and TalentCorp, bolstered by the invaluable support of the Ministry of Human Resources. Together, we will nurture Malaysian youths, building a workforce that is resilient, digitally forward, and industrious.”

The DELA programme will include modules on digital business acumen, project management strategies, effective development strategies, emotional agility, and effective communication, amongst others to prepare talent with industry knowledge and in-demand skills to apply in real-life work situations.

According to Vic, with this programme, Jobstreet by SEEK aims to work with high-potential Malaysian graduates and match them with the right companies. He also advises jobseekers to take advantage of available programmes such as DELA, and to look into using other available resources to stand out among employers.

An example he shared is Jobstreet by SEEK’s Career Hub, which is an online resource and skills enhancement tool to empower professionals that offers different certifications such as Microsoft certifications and Excel certifications. Through this platform, Jobstreet have issued 362 skill-enhancing certifications, as of February 2024.

“This year’s career fair truly demonstrated that Jobstreet by SEEK is aligned with the goals of our Madani government, which is to enhance employability and equip the future workforce with the knowledge and skills to thrive in the job landscape. We are extremely grateful that YB Tuan Adam Adli was able to join us to share more on the importance of technical and vocational education and training (TVET) as well as the importance of sustainability in everything we do,” concluded Vic.

Speaking at MCTF 2024, the Honourable deputy minister of youth and sports, Adam Adli, highlighted the government’s primary focus: empowering young people to unleash their true potential, embrace their talents, and continue building a life of meaningful learning.

Adam said, “Career fairs like this aim to motivate them to actively seek opportunities, build on their skills, and enhance their industry knowledge. We are committed to supporting them, through the technical and vocational education and training (TVET) programmes, as we recognise that the youth will play a key role in the country’s future, and drive our nation towards becoming a leader in the digital economy”.

Aligned with Jobstreet by SEEK’s mission to connect job seekers and organisations to foster productive working lives, its involvement at the MCTF highlights a shared commitment to providing access and opportunities to jobs for Malaysia’s local talent pool.

Solely organised by AIC Exhibitions and held over two days on 30 and 31 March, MCTF 2024 enabled 110 exhibitors from employers, training providers, universities, and colleges from across the nation to meet more than 26,000 job seekers and talent.

Datuk William Ng, organising chairman of MCTF, AIC Exhibitions said, “We are thrilled to collaborate with Jobstreet by SEEK once again to host the Malaysia Career and Training Fair in 2024 for the twenty-third year. This edition marks a special milestone for all of us, as it is the first-ever SDG-themed career fair. Understanding our larger role to encourage sustainability, prosperity and peace for the planet and communities, our fair hosted 110 participating companies who outlined their own SDG commitments and goals to job seekers.”

On behalf of AIC Exhibitions, Datuk William thanks all participating exhibitors, organisations, and Malaysian talents attending MCTF and making it a yearly success.

Datuk William continued, “We are also honoured to host YB Adam Adli, the deputy minister of youth and sports of Malaysia, who has been actively advocating for the growth and development of our local talent.”

MCTF will be organised again this year on 21 and 22 September at the Mid Valley Exhibition Centre in Kuala Lumpur.News Hub Asia's new seal logo is a black spot with the letters 'NHA' inscribed in the centre with three diagonal dots in white.
