The University of Derby (UoD) UK established presence in the National Defence University of Malaysia (NDUM) on 1 October 2015, via a ‘JOINT CHAIR’ in Security Education. Although we started with a modest annual KPI of two programmes , the JOINT CHAIR has thus far initiated & executed seven academic and non-academic activities since its onset; hence exceeding its targeted KPI for 2016.

This ICoSTI conference is one of such activities. Above and beyond the content of the forum, this seminar suggests the fundamental ‘value-add’ of the JOINT CHAIR within NDUM i.e. the ability to draw in expertise on various ‘Security’ disciplines, from local & international institutions. We do so within the guiding philosophy of ‘Knowledge Transfer’ for the betterment of all. You will witness during this day-long session, the interphase of knowledge across the spectrum of Academics, Industry & Practitioners, in the business of Security, Technology & Intelligence portfolios.

I would like to extend our outmost thanks and gratitude to all that have contributed their tireless effort in putting this seminar together. The three main organizing partners of this conference; UoD, NDUM and IDyna Solutions Sdn Bhd played a critical role in providing the content of this conference, let alone the long list of co-sponsors. The resources and logistics (software, hardware, human-ware & finances) committed by all institutions local & abroad are of alarming proportions, being the hallmark of sheer dedication in the business of knowledge transfer. Like all events, the attendees make the show. On that note, may I also express my thanks & appreciation to all institutions and personalities who have responded to our call for this ICoSTI 2016 conference
