Malaysia Competition Commission updates on the investigation into the chicken and eggs industry

    On 1 February 2022, the Malaysia Competition Commission (MyCC) announced the formation of a special task force to investigate competition-related issues in the chicken and eggs industry following the directive given by the National Action Council on Cost of Living (NACCOL). Subsequent to that, MyCC has made considerable inroads into the said investigation including conducting raids and statement taking involving relevant enterprises and persons which were carried out as recent as 8 March 2022.

    At the same time, MyCC is pleased to announce that it has received strong support and cooperation in its investigation activities. This includes parties who have indicated their willingness to explore applying for leniency under Section 41 of the Competition Act  2010 to cooperate with MyCC on the same. 

    MyCC is now inviting enterprises, relevant stakeholders and members of the public to come forward in assisting MyCC with its investigations. Interested parties are advised to contact MyCC by telephone at 03-2273 2277 (IED) or email at [email protected].
