SEACare 2025 to spotlight innovation and policy in South East Asia’s healthcare landscape through inaugural conference

Healthcare leaders, policymakers, and industry players across South East Asia are set to gather in Kuala Lumpur for the inaugural SEA Healthcare and Pharma Conference 2025, an event expected to shape the future of regional healthcare. Scheduled from 23 to 25 April 2025 at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC), the conference will run alongside SEACare 2025, the region’s premier healthcare and pharmaceutical exhibition.

Jointly organised by Qube Integrated Malaysia, the National Cancer Society Malaysia (NCSM), and Five Pillar Venture Capital, the conference aims to address critical developments in the sector—from digital transformation and policy reform to sustainable healthcare financing and artificial intelligence.

Endorsed by the Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) and the Malaysian Pharmacists Society (MPS), the event offers participants 20 CPD points upon attending all three days.

“This conference stands out for its comprehensive approach, covering the entire disease continuum with case studies in areas like diabetes and cancer while focusing on core health system pillars such as financing and system strengthening,” said Dr Noraryana Binti Hassan, deputy director (NCD) for the Disease Control Division at the Ministry of Health Malaysia.

Dr Noraryana added that the conference will offer valuable insights for healthcare providers and policymakers by bridging clinical practice with policy discussions.

The conference programme has been curated by a high-profile steering committee comprising experts in public health, clinical research, and healthcare policy. Alongside Dr Noraryana, the committee members include Dato’ Dr Saunthari Somasundaram, president of NCSM and co-chairperson of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD) Malaysia; Dr Muralitharan Paramasua, the chief executive of Medical Device Authority (MDA) under the Ministry of Health Malaysia; Professor Eli Renganathan, professor of Public Health and Policy, Jeffrey Cheah School of Medicine and Health Sciences, Monash University Malaysia; and Zainul Alam Abdul Kadir, business development director at Frost & Sullivan Malaysia.

They will be joined by top speakers such as Dr Mahesh Appannan, director of Digital Health at the Ministry of Health Malaysia; Dr Yap Wei Aun, chief executive officer at the Health Transformation Office (HTO); and Hoo Ling Lee, regional chief executive officer for KPJ Healthcare Bhd.

Topics to be explored include AI in healthcare, value-based care models, cloud-powered health solutions, and the future of public-private healthcare partnerships.

“By exploring advancements in digital health, AI-driven innovations, and sustainable financing strategies, the event will serve as a catalyst for transformative change in the regional healthcare landscape,” said Associate Professor Dr Murallitharan M., conference organising chairman and NCSM managing director.

He added that these discussions aim to equip stakeholders with valuable insights and practical solutions to navigate the industry’s evolving challenges in the coming years.

This year’s edition of SEACare marks a strategic shift, where business meets social impact and investment-driven innovation. In a national first, part of the proceeds from the conference will support cancer care and awareness initiatives through NCSM, underlining the event’s commitment to social value beyond commercial outcomes.

Richard Teo, executive chairman of Qube, said, “The SEA Healthcare and Pharma Conference 2025 marks a significant milestone as SEACare’s first-ever conference, designed to go beyond a traditional trade event by fostering critical dialogue, collaboration, and innovation. This conference reflects SEACare’s evolution not just as a platform for business opportunities but as a driver of transformative ideas that will shape the future of healthcare in the region.”
