Qatar Airways Group has reported its strongest-ever financial performance, posting a record profit of QAR7.85 billion (USD2.15 billion) for the fiscal year 2024/25—a 28 per cent increase from the previous year.
This historic milestone was attributed to the airline’s renewed “Qatar Airways 2.0” strategy, which emphasises data-driven decision-making, digital innovation, and resilient global partnerships. The Group’s revenue growth also included strong contributions from its cargo, catering, and duty-free divisions.

“These record-breaking results are a testament to the hard work, skill and dedication of teams across all of Qatar Airways Group,” said group chief executive officer Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer. “I know that none of the outstanding results we’re announcing today would be possible without our people—more than 55,000 of them across the globe.”
He added that the Group’s agility in the face of global uncertainties—be they political, economic, or environmental—was key to maintaining momentum: “We have successfully implemented strategic partnerships throughout the industry in order for the Group to remain agile in the face of ever-shifting world events.”
Qatar Airways Cargo, the world’s leading air cargo operator, delivered its best financial performance since the COVID-19 period, recording a 17 per cent revenue increase. This was credited to its digital transformation, market responsiveness, and operational reliability.
Among the airline’s key achievements over the past year were:
- A record 28 per cent year-on-year profit increase
- Expansion of Hamad International Airport, now equipped to handle 65 million passengers annually
- Becoming the first global airline to roll out Starlink high-speed Wi-Fi on Boeing 777 aircraft
- Acquiring 25 per cent stakes in both Virgin Australia and South African carrier Airlink
- Launch of “Sama,” the world’s first digital cabin crew, powered by conversational AI
The Group also continued to align its growth with Qatar National Vision 2030 by signing a range of technical Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) to future-proof operations and diversify revenue streams.
Looking forward, the airline has finalised new aircraft and engine deals, further cementing its position as a leader in sustainable, tech-forward aviation. “We continue to offer and develop exceptional service in the skies, whether it’s the award-winning Qsuite, fine dining, or super-fast complimentary Starlink internet connectivity,” said Badr.
Qatar Airways was named World’s Best Airline for a record eighth time at the 2024 Skytrax World Airline Awards and currently serves over 170 destinations via its Doha hub, Hamad International Airport. ![]()
