“As announced by the Prime Minister just now, he has received approval from the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to dissolve Parliament today and make way for the 15th General Election to be held within 60 days.
“We have repeatedly expressed the position that general elections are not suitable to be held in the near term as there is a risk of floods hitting the country, but DAP respects the decision that has been made in accordance with the Federal Constitution.
“Therefore, the entire DAP election machinery will be activated immediately to face the GE15 campaign.
“DAP’s Central Supreme Committee (CEC) will hold an emergency meeting tomorrow night (Tuesday) to discuss the party’s preparations for GE15.
“DAP will also continue to support the Pakatan Harapan Presidential Council’s decision not to dissolve the State Legislative Assemblies of Penang, Selangor and Negeri Sembilan so that the respective state governments can continue to focus on being prepared to face any possible disaster.
“All party leaders and members will be deployed to campaign to win the people’s mandate for Pakatan Harapan to form the federal government after GE15.
“Pakatan Harapan must rise!”
