EP Blueshark Sdn Bhd (EP Blueshark), a subsidiary of Bursa-listed automotive solutions provider EP Manufacturing Berhad (EPMB), together with Blueshark Malaysia Sdn Bhd (Blueshark), an electric vehicle (EV) tech mobility company, announced the commencement of local assembly for the SoloEra Solo 1C electric motorcycle at EPMB’s advanced production facility in Glenmarie, Shah Alam.
This milestone reflects the joint commitment of EPMB and Blueshark to support the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR) and Malaysia’s net zero ambitions. It also showcases the growing strength of the partnership, combining EPMB’s manufacturing expertise with Blueshark’s EV technology to advance Malaysia’s transition towards sustainable mobility.

The Glenmarie facility has an initial production capacity of 12,000 electric motorcycles annually. Building on this momentum, local assembly of the high-performance Solo 2 and Solo 3 models is now underway. This expansion not only widens consumer choice but also underscores the shared vision of positioning Malaysia as a strategic hub for two-wheeled EV (2WEV) manufacturing in ASEAN and beyond.
To commemorate this achievement, EPMB hosted a site visit for key stakeholders, including the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), the Malaysia Automotive Robotics & IoT Institute (MARii), Malaysian Industrial Development Finance Berhad (MIDF), PETRONAS Dagangan Berhad (PDB), and Blueshark. The event was graced by Datuk Hanafi Sakri, Deputy Secretary General (Industry) of MITI, as the Guest of Honour.
Hanafi said, “I congratulate EPMB and Blueshark on this breakthrough achievement, which sets the stage for 2WEV adoption in Malaysia and the region. The mass production of advanced EV vehicles by EPMB, a local automotive manufacturer, in partnership with Blueshark, an established electromobility player, will be pivotal in driving Malaysia towards its NETR and vehicle electrification targets.”
MARii chief executive officer Azrul Reza Aziz said, “The local production of the Solo 1C demonstrates how industry players can leverage national incentives, such as the MARiiCas rebate programme, along with technological innovation, to make electromobility attainable for all Malaysians. As the cost of ownership declines, we expect mainstream adoption of electric motorcycles to accelerate.”

Aidan Hamidon, executive director of EP Manufacturing Berhad, said, “We are thrilled to announce the start of production of SoloEra electric motorcycles at our Glenmarie facility. EPMB continues to make strides towards the forefront of energy-efficient vehicle (EEV) production and advancing the next generation of mobility solutions in Malaysia and beyond.”
Azureen Azita Abdullah, chief operations officer of PETRONAS Dagangan Berhad, said, “The start of SoloEra’s local production is a key milestone in our partnership with Blueshark and EPMB to expand electric two-wheelers and related energy solutions in Malaysia. By combining PETRONAS Dagangan Berhad’s strong brand, nationwide network and operational excellence with our partners’ EV expertise, we are paving the way for a future-ready mobility ecosystem.”
Jeff Chong, chief executive officer of Blueshark Malaysia Sdn Bhd, said, “This is a proud moment for Blueshark and our partners as we turn our vision for affordable, sustainable mobility into reality. Together with our strategic partners EPMB and PETRONAS Dagangan Berhad, we are committed to expanding Malaysia’s electromobility ecosystem while establishing the country as a manufacturing hub for ASEAN and beyond.”

6,000 registrations of interest in just over a month
The Solo 1C has been met with overwhelming interest from Malaysians, recording over 6,000 registrations of interest in just over a month following the launch of a limited-time pre-launch promotion in July. Priced from as low as RM599, the campaign made the Solo 1C one of the most accessible electric motorcycles in the market.
This success was driven by an exclusive collaboration with Mesra Rewards and Setel, supported by the MARiiCas EV rebate initiative by MARii, which is designed to accelerate the adoption of electric motorcycles nationwide.
Through these initiatives, Blueshark Malaysia and EPMB are making smart, sustainable mobility more attainable for everyday riders. The SoloEra series is specifically positioned to ease the transition from internal combustion engine (ICE) motorcycles to electric, directly contributing to the Government’s target of achieving 20 per cent electrified vehicles (xEV) by 2030.
