UOB Malaysia offers flood relief assistance including repayment relief of up to six months to affected customers nationwide

    UOB Malaysia today announced that the Bank will offer relief assistance, including repayment relief of up to six months, to individuals, small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and corporates customers affected by the recent floods across the country.

    UOB Malaysia’s relief assistance programme aims to alleviate the financial burden of customers whose livelihoods and businesses have been impacted by the pandemic and disasters including floods. Apart from the repayment relief, the Bank also offers customers other forms of assistance such as reduction in monthly repayment instalments and extension of repayment tenures.

    Ms Ng Wei Wei, Chief Executive Officer, UOB Malaysia, said, “UOB has always stood by our customers through good and bad times. We understand the financial challenges that many of our customers may face due to the recent floods. Our relief assistance programme offers repayment options and other relief measures, tailored to different customers’ circumstances to alleviate their financial burdens and help them recover faster from this calamity.”

    As part of the relief programme, UOB Malaysia is waiving certain fees and charges for the replacement of debit and credit cards or cheque books lost or damaged during the floods. The Bank will also waive late credit card payment charges for affected customers.

    In addition, the Bank has put in place a claim process under its flood inconvenience allowances on selected bancassurance products underwritten by its insurance partners. This will enable these insurance partners to expedite the processing of claims.

    To opt in for UOB Malaysia’s relief assistance programme, customers can submit their application online through the Bank’s website. Individual customers can also call the Bank’s dedicated 24-hour hotline at 03-2612 8121, while small businesses can contact the UOB Business Banking Hotline at 03-2616 6800. Other businesses and corporate clients can contact their respective relationship managers for more details and assistance.

    UOB Malaysia also encourages customers to use its digital banking services, including UOB Personal Internet Banking, UOB Infinity and the UOB Mighty mobile app, for their banking needs. The Bank advises customers who wish to visit a branch in areas affected by the flood to check its website for the latest information on its opening and operating hours.
