Radium Development expands into healthcare with first hospital in southwest Malaysia

Radium Development Berhad, widely known for its property ventures in the Klang Valley, has officially entered Malaysia’s private healthcare sector with the launch of Radium Hospital @ Ayer Keroh—its first medical facility under the new healthcare division, Radium Healthcare Sdn Bhd.

Formerly known as A Famosa Specialist Hospital, the newly rebranded facility is strategically located near the Melaka International Trade Centre (MITC), just 12 kilometres from Melaka city and less than 4 kilometres from the PLUS Highway interchange.

Positioned as a tertiary-level hospital, Radium Hospital @ Ayer Keroh aims to serve middle- to high-income patients, corporate panels, and medical tourists. The initiative marks a notable pivot for Radium, traditionally a residential and commercial developer, as it seeks to diversify into long-term, high-impact industries.

At the launch today (27 May 2025), Radium Development Berhad group managing director Datuk Gary Gan Kah Siong said, "Our commitment has always been to create spaces and opportunities that improve the lives of Malaysians, not only through homes but through infrastructure and services that support thriving communities. Today, as we venture into healthcare, we see this as a natural extension of our mission." | Photo by Radium Development / NHA File Photo

“As a brand built on the belief of ‘Building Good’, our venture into healthcare is a natural extension of our mission to serve Malaysians from all walks of life,” said Datuk Gary Gan, group managing director of Radium Development Berhad, at the launch today.

He also emphasised the company’s commitment to bringing the same level of reliability, compassion and excellence that they are known for in the property sector into the healthcare space.

Expected to be operational in the first half of 2028, the hospital will anchor Radium Centricity—a 7.11-acre integrated development in Ayer Keroh focused on health, wellness, and lifestyle. This larger precinct is set to include residential units, retail offerings, and support services, offering a holistic live-work-heal ecosystem for the growing Melaka population and surrounding communities.

The hospital will feature Centres of Excellence in key specialties such as traumatology, cardiology, infertility, and neonatology, specifically addressing health challenges faced by tier-two towns and regional populations.

“Our vision is to create a healthcare system that is inclusive, ethical, and adaptable,” said Dr Arun Kumar, CEO of Radium Healthcare and leader of the group’s partnership with M Life Healthcare Sdn Bhd.

Dr Arun stated that Radium Hospital @ Ayer Keroh is just the beginning, setting the ball rolling for “building a network of community-focused hospitals that meet the highest clinical standards while remaining affordable to the public.”

To ensure sustainability and operational efficiency, Radium Healthcare’s business model combines internal funding with strategic borrowings. It also embraces asset-light development, digital innovations, and a strong commitment to safety and accreditation, including plans for MSQH certification.

With more healthcare developments in the pipeline, Radium’s move mirrors a wider trend of cross-sector expansion in Malaysia, as property developers respond to the growing demand for healthcare infrastructure, particularly in underserved regions.

The development also aligns with national goals to enhance healthcare access and improve quality of life, especially outside urban centres.  News Hub Asia's new seal logo is a black spot with the letters 'NHA' inscribed in the centre with three diagonal dots in white.
