MALAYSIA: Pacific Inter-Link strengthens regional shipping capabilities with berthing of Pacific Pride in Johor

Pacific Inter-Link Sdn Bhd (PIL), a global player in the edible oil and consumer goods industry, has reached a new milestone in regional trade logistics with the successful berthing of its chartered vessel, Pacific Pride, at Johor Port in Pasir Gudang in Johor, a southern state of Malaysia. The move signals the company’s strategic push to enhance supply chain autonomy and improve connectivity across key export markets.

The vessel, operated by PACOIL (Pacific Oils & Fats Industries Sdn Bhd), an affiliate of PIL, will support the export of palm oil—a cornerstone of Malaysia’s agri-commodity economy. Its deployment underscores PIL’s broader ambition to deepen vertical integration and navigate the complexities of global shipping with greater resilience.

“The launch of Pacific Pride marks a new chapter in our growth story,” said Dato’ (Dr) Fouad Hayel Saeed Anam, chairman and group CEO of Pacific Inter-Link. “It symbolises our forward momentum, integrating logistics into our core business and aligning our infrastructure to serve customers faster, smarter and more sustainably.”

As Malaysia seeks to retain its competitiveness in the global palm oil trade amidst shifting regulatory frameworks and freight market volatility, PIL’s investment in a dedicated vessel aligns with a broader regional trend of supply chain localisation and infrastructure control.

According to PACOIL general manager Syed Mohammad Hussain Shah, the vessel will enable better route optimisation, enhanced delivery timelines and higher levels of consistency in cargo handling. “This vessel is more than just a logistical asset—it is a strategic statement,” he said.

The enhanced logistics capabilities also aim to shield PIL’s operations from disruptions linked to geopolitical tensions and rising global shipping costs. With the ongoing recalibration of global trade routes, particularly in Asia and the Middle East, Pacific Pride is expected to give PIL a sharper competitive edge while bolstering Malaysia’s position in international export markets.

The maiden voyage of Pacific Pride is seen as both an infrastructure play and a branding opportunity. For a company with export links to more than 70 countries, visibility at sea now carries added value—not only in operational efficiency but also in reinforcing the trust of global buyers seeking reliable partners in supply.
