MABC applauds Malaysian premier’s decision to ease rules on the hiring of foreign workers

The Malaysia Australia Business Council (MABC) applauds the decision by Malaysian Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim to ease rules on the hiring of foreign workers by removing the existing preconditions and allowing recruitment to be carried out via the ‘Pelan Kelonggaran Penggajian Pekerja Asing (PKKP)’.

The implementation of the Illegal Immigrant Recalibration Plan 2.0 (IIRP) will further act as a catalyst to ease the burden of labour requirements for industries across Malaysia.

The MABC executive committee, in a media statement issued today, said, “Currently, a number of industries including manufacturing, plantations, construction, retail and tourism along with a host of other industries are experiencing difficulties in dealing with the limitations of foreign labour and moving to a full recovery after the pandemic. This initiative will allow for an increase in productivity which will simultaneously boost the growth of Malaysia’s economy.”

In the same statement, MABC chairman Dato’ Sr Peter Tan said, “We strongly believe that this initiative will also act as a catalyst to increase Foreign Direct Investments as the world views Malaysia as a ‘haven’ to set up and carry out business.” News Hub Asia logo-seal
