Central Bank of Malaysia’s governor to launch refreshed edition of the National Scam Awareness Campaign next week

    Next week, the 10th governor of the Central Bank of Malaysia (Bank Negara Malaysia or BNM) Datuk Abdul Rasheed Ghaffour will be launching the refreshed #JanganKenaScam National Scam Awareness Campaign, which is an initiative by The Association of Banks in Malaysia (ABM) and the Association of Islamic Banking and Financial Institutions Malaysia (AIBIM).

    To be launched on Tuesday (3 October 2023) at the International Conference on Financial Crime and Terrorism Financing (IFCTF) 2023, the campaign is a concerted effort by the banking industry to raise public awareness of the growing prevalence of scams and fraudulent schemes in Malaysia and encourage the public to protect themselves and their communities from falling victim to these detrimental activities by practising vigilance and familiarising themselves with scam tactics.

    IFCTF 2023 is jointly organised by the Asian Institute of Chartered Bankers (AICB) and its Compliance Officers’ Networking Group (CONG), and supported by Bank Negara Malaysia, Securities Commission Malaysia and Labuan Financial Services Authority. It will be held from 2 to 4 October 2023 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC), Malaysia, with the theme ‘Trust Reinvented: Building a Sustainable Culture of Integrity, Transparency and Accountability‘.

    In its 13th edition, the IFCTF 2023 will highlight how a renewed focus on trust is critical in the public and private sectors to ensure the sustainability, stability and growth of the nation, with a special focus on anti-corruption, anti-bribery, anti-money laundering and the need to further enhance transparency and accountability in our local financial systems.
