BigPay launches DuitNow cross-border QR payments for Malaysian users to pay in Singapore and Thailand

BigPay, the leading Southeast Asian finance app, announced today that Malaysian users can now make cashless and cardless cross-border payments with its latest DuitNow cross-border QR payment feature in Singapore and Thailand. As one of the first few to introduce this new feature, BigPay aims to provide a seamless travel payment experience to its users by enabling convenient, instant QR payments with competitive foreign exchange rates.

With the newly launched DuitNow cross-border QR payment feature, Malaysian travellers can scan QR codes from participating merchants and banks using the BigPay app and pay like locals in Singapore and Thailand. By using this feature on the app, users can spend in the respective local currency and can also instantaneously view the currency conversion into Malaysian Ringgit. In Singapore, customers can utilise DuitNow cross-border QR payment via any ‘SGQR QR code’ by NETS, whereas in Thailand, customers can do so via the ‘Thai QR Payment’ QR code by PromptPay.

“As travel returns to pre-pandemic levels and we see a refreshed desire from our customers to travel, especially in the Southeast Asian region, we remain committed to providing a seamless payment experience when they travel,” said Zubin Rada Krishnan, CEO of BigPay. “With our new DuitNow cross-border QR payment feature, our users now have a payment method, on top of our Visa debit card, so they can worry less about cash when travelling to Singapore and Thailand. They’ll be able to top-up their BigPay and spend immediately when they land – whether it’s via PromptPay for Som Tum, or NetsQR for satay!”

BigPay users can enjoy the convenience of an all-in travel payment by simply topping up their BigPay account and choosing to pay via DuitNow cross-border payment, or via the Visa card when abroad. The DuitNow cross-border QR feature also serves as an additional payment method on top of BigPay’s Visa card payment and ATM cash withdrawals, making it easier for Malaysians to enjoy the convenience of cashless and cardless cross-border payments when travelling. Apart from Singapore and Thailand, BigPay DuitNow cross-border QR payment will be subsequently made available in Indonesia in the following weeks.

Most recently, BigPay launched its exclusive full-year five per cent off AirAsia flights promo as the first of many initiatives of its strengthened collaboration with AirAsia. Through BigPay’s suite of offerings, users can start saving up for their holiday through Stashes, purchase discounted AirAsia flights, enjoy one of the most competitive foreign exchange rates through BigPay Visa card, and DuitNow cross-border QR payment in Singapore and Thailand through this newly launched feature.
