The Special Olympic Malaysia held their National Games

    The Special Olympic Malaysia held their National Games on the 4th and 5th of May in Kuala Lumpur, the games which are also part of the selection process for next year’s Special Olympics World Games which will be held in Abu Dhabi and 35 athletes from the ages of 15 will be participating.

    Puan Nur Azida Daud the organising chairman stated “It was an excellent two days of competition which saw all states in Malaysia send a contingent to participate. I would like to thank those who made it possible, especially the volunteers, coaches, teachers, parents, committee members and sponsors.”

    This year’s SO Malaysia National Games were held at the IGB International School in Sungai Buloh and the prestigious TPC KL, in Bukit Kiara, where the bowling competition was held.

    The athletes enjoyed competing in modern facilities which enhanced their performance. “I would like to personally thank IBG International School for agreeing to host the games,  and we look forward to working closely with you again in the future” stated Azida who is also the Board Chairperson of the Special Olympics in Malaysia.

    Both male and female athletes participated in the following sports, Football (Unified) 7’ a side, Bowling, Bocce, Badminton, Swimming and a range of track & field events.

    Malaysia will take a contingent of 52 athletes and coaches to the Abu Dhabi World Games, and this will be a group with the most female participation that has competed from Malaysia.
