Superga Malaysia launches collaboration with Motherchuckers at new retail shop in 1 Utama

Superga Malaysia opens its second store in Malaysia at 1 Utama, one of the largest shopping malls in the country.

1 Utama has proven itself to truly be a premier lifestyle mecca with over 700 shops, sports facilities and even an indoor rainforest spread across seven extensive retail levels. On 22 October 2022, Superga Malaysia added to this lineup of shops that shoppers can look forward to at Petaling Jaya’s top shopping mall.

Coming in at 460 square feet, the 1 Utama Superga shop will house the brand’s complete range of unisex sneakers for adults and juniors. The iconic Superga 2750 sneakers seen on the feet of Kate Middleton and John Lennon will take centre stage, grounding the store with its wide assortment of colours.

A big part of Superga’s ethos has always been its commitment to supporting local organisations and personalities that align with the brand. This year, Superga collaborated with supermodel turned best-selling author, Emily Ratajkowski to create a capsule sneaker collection that commemorated her appointment as the brand’s new global ambassador.

Local collaborations across the shores of Singapore have reached cult status. With four sold-out collaborations with lifestyle influencer Drea Chong, the brand has found much success with the localisation of the brand. On an international level, Superga has also launched collaborations with brands such as Chiara Ferragni, High Snobiety and AlaĂŻa.

On 12 November 2022, the shop will see the launch of Superga’s very first Malaysian collaboration with Motherchuckers, a contemporary Malaysian lifestyle brand; the brainchild of content creator and entrepreneur Jane Chuck.

While Motherchuckers and Superga share a sensibility towards comfort and a timeless aesthetic, what gravitated them towards each other was the former’s bright, cheeky approach to elevating wardrobe staples and the latter’s century-old heritage in craftsmanship—offering durability and flexibility in their footwear. Together, they bring soul to every adventure through a line of sneakers in a bouquet of colours fit for any quest outside.

The collection has been aptly titled All You Need Is a Lil’ Sole, a celebration of self-expression and being at ease when you’re on the go.

“To be comfortable is to be true to yourself,” explains Jane Chuck.

“It means getting to express yourself freely, spending time with those who uplift you and pursuing goals that empower you. As being outside is where the magic truly happens, we wanted to create a line of sneakers that will accompany you on your adventure of finding true comfort.”

To reflect Superga’s timeless charm and versatility, Motherchuckers has reimagined the 2630 Stripe, 2402 Mule and 2750 Strap in two shades each.

The Superga 2630 Stripe gets a Motherchuckers makeover with two distinctive colourways – Neptune, a celestial shade of cyan, and Butter, an understated ecru hue. The sneaker sees Superga’s iconic canvas upper contrasted with half-moon suede detailing across the collection. The distinctive chunky soles of the 2630 boast a subtle dual-tone bumper and each shoe comes with two sets of coloured laces.

Style and comfort are never mutually exclusive when it comes to the Superga Mule. Made for the fashion-savvy on the go, the bestselling silhouette now comes in Fuchsia Orchid, an electric pink shade, and a gum-soled neutral that takes on the shade (and name) of a classic comfort meal – Oatmeal. Fully outfitted in a suede upper, stark white stitching runs across the whole shoe.

Answer the call for adventure without letting laces get in the way. With its iconic trio of velcro straps, Superga 2750 Strap has long been revered as a brand classic.

Motherchuckers adds their own spin to it with two earthy colourways and an eye-catching blue logo side tab as seen throughout the collection.

To commemorate the launch of Superga x Motherchuckers, Motherchuckers will launch “Sole Searchers”, a new clothing collection for your next escapade. The clothes will launch on 12 November 2022 at Superga’s new store at 1 Utama, and thereafter on 14 November at www.chuck-s.co.

Superga x Motherchuckers sneakers will launch on 12 November 2022, 11am in all Superga stores and online at www.superga-my.com.
